News from neurosurgery: Modern treatments and interdisciplinary exchange
Annual Meeting of the DGNC, 1 - 4 June 2025 in Hanover

At the beginning of June, neurosurgery specialists and scientists gathered in Hanover for the annual meeting of the German Society of Neurosurgery (DGNC) – this year together with the French Society of Neurosurgery (SFNC) – under the motto ‘In the field of tension between research and patient care’. They shed light on the latest developments in the field of personalised functional neurosurgery and interdisciplinary interfaces. This year’s presentations and discussions focussed in particular on treatments using the Gamma Knife and their results. In a lunchtime symposium, the topics of paediatric arteriovenous malformations (Prof. Frischer, Vienna), the hybrid procedure (surgery and radiosurgical irradiation) for large acoustic neuromas (Prof. Lipitz, Hamburg) and functional treatment indications (pain, tremor and others; Dr. Lütjens, Hanover) were considered separately. To summarise, the congress days also offered our medical colleagues an excellent opportunity to find out about the latest developments in research and clinical practice – for the benefit of our patients.
